Lava Lizard Update

Getting pretty close to the finish. I'm really trying to focus on it being readable and interesting from a distance.

Lava Lizard

Update on my work in progress.

I'm not really sure how i want to handle the creature's armor plating or what color i want him to be. I'll fiddle around with it a bit.

Magic the Gathering - Creature Design

Here's my work in progress sketch of my illustration for our Magic the Gathering creature topic.

The idea is to come up with an original creature and create an illustration that would fit into the Magic the Gathering world.

I've been sketching different creatures all day and realize that I really need more practice when it comes to creatures. I'm going with a lava lizard type creature with an obvious dinosaur influence.

As always, feel free to leave a comment or a critique this blog is 100% dedicated to improvement and having fun with what we're doing.

long time no see

So its been a while since I posted on here guys, so thought I would do a little post of some things I worked on for the blog. Some character concepts for joan of arc, and character ideas for Hawke and Archon from D&D as well as a wip of a battle scene. Getting inspired by the creatures from lord of the rings! Love to get some critic guys. And sorry for the delay all :)

DnD: Amnon Sketches

Here are some initial rough sketches for my DnD character, Amnon (Tiefling Warlock). I have the face figured out and just need to fine tune the costume and magic scepter. Let me know what you think!

The rendered face on the left reminds me of Tim the Enchanter from Monty Python and the Holy Grail soooo much. I had to make him a little meaner looking and tone down the dark parts around the face.

This is the basic look for the costume I'm going for. From here I'm just going to fine tune the individual parts and add a bunch of details. I like the idea of my character still being in robes with leather "armor" protecting key places. I'm still figuring out the scepter.

First Post.

To start off here is some of my more recent stuff all done for various school assignments.

Excalibur
Done digitally for a Narrative Illustration assignment.

A 6 hour head study done in oil on masonite board.

Plugged In
Done in Ink for a assignment utilizing different inking patterns.

A Barn Owl study done in watercolor, which resulted in the creation of...

80's Rock Owl

And lastly an Anthony Ryder master copy done in oils on canvas.

New Topic - D&D Characters

Hello everyone, we're back from a long hiatus after a grueling semester at the Academy.

We're going to pick things back up with a new challenge, to design our new D&D characters.

I'm the DM so I'll be doing one of the player's characters who wont be able to participate.

Laakari, an Eladrin Cleric for Corellon.

1-page comic

Well here is my one page comic illustration. It is a social commentary about how we are overly absorbed into our electronic devices like ipads , iPods, phones. We shut ourselves into our own little world and don't connect or meet new people. I was inspired by my morning hikes up Powell street in San Fransisco. Everybody avoids everyone else and do not stick their heads out of their little bubbles

Well...

New semester, new outlook.

I know that I for one, am going to have trouble keeping up with this blog over the next few months.

Here's a character design to make you feel better about it.

This is my Joan of Arc entry for the blog. I've put her in the sci-fi genre by giving her a patriotic french spacesuit, a hydra gun, and a very badass hairstyle.
